Economics Undergraduate ProgramsBachelor DegreesThe School of Economics offers three Bachelor degrees:
Each degree usually takes three years to complete for a full-time student. Many Bachelor of Economics (B.Ec.) and Bachelor of Finance (B.Fin.) students are studying for a combined or double degree. HonoursThe Bachelor of Economics program usually takes three years to complete. Students who obtain good results may apply for entry to the Honours program. This is particularly useful for students who wish to continue with their studies in Economics and take research-based programs such as the Master of Economics or the Ph.D. After completion of an Honours or higher degree, graduates may call themselves a professional economist and usually work for companies, governments, international agencies, or as university lecturers. Students who complete an Honours Degree in Economics are much better placed in the labour market than students in possession of an ordinary Bachelor’s degree. Employers including the Federal and State Treasury, and the Reserve Bank of Australia often recruit Honours Graduates or offer cadetship's for students contemplating Honours. Graduates employment prospects in the private sector are also enhanced, as international consulting firms usually require an Honours degree. There are required courses to be eligible to apply for the Honours Degree in Economics that are outlined in the two pathways below. This can be altered if students have not taken the pathways listed below, you can discuss this with the Economics Course Adviser.
