3 School of Economics students receive University Medals

Congratulations to Mark Dodd, Wing Hsieh and Vina Liu

All students received University Medals at the graduation ceremony held in August. Receiving a University Medal shows the high level of academic achievement that they have shown.
The School is extremely proud of them.

The School welcomes two new Professors!

Jiti Gao from The University of Western Australia will join us from January 2008 as Professor of Economics. Jiti received his doctoral degree in Science from The University of Science and Technology of China in 1993, and his PhD in Econometrics from Monash in 2004. Jiti's teaching and research interests are in economic statistics, econometrics and financial economics.

Mark Weder was born in Hagen, Germany and studied at the Technical University Berlin, Humboldt University Berlin and the University of Maryland. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Humboldt. Before coming to Australia in 2005 as an Associate Professor to the School, Weder was a German Science Foundation Heisenberg Fellow. Mark's research concentrates on the causes of business cycles, expectations formation, optimal monetary policy, sources of economic growth and 20th century economic history. He has published widely in the leading international journals.
