Adelaide and South Australia

Adelaide is a vibrant cosmopolitan city in South Australia which is famous for its nearby wine regions, native bushland, wildlife and pristine beaches, festivals and arts.

There are several wine regions within 2 hour drive from Adelaide, including:

Adelaide Hills  is just 20 minutes from the city centre. With 25 cellar doors do visit and many cafes and restaurants to stop for lunch and dinner, the region provides a wonderful gourmet holiday destination.

McLaren Vale is one of Australia's renowned wine regions with over 76 cellar doors. The area is also only minutes away from the stunning coastline and beaches - this is the region where the vines meet the sea!

The Barossa  is the wine capital of Australia with more than 20 per cent of Australia's wine is made in the Barossa! And it is just 1 hour drive from the city. The Barossa has the world's oldest Shiraz vineyards, some dating back to the 1840s. Another flagship wine is Eden Valley Riesling.

Clare Valley is a two-hour drive from Adelaide. It is often described as one of Australia's most beautiful wine producing regions and is compared to Tuscany! You can also cycle an idyllic 35 kilometres through vineyards on the Riesling Trail.

South Australia is also a great place to see Australian wildlife:

Cleland Wildlife Park is a place where you can hold a koala, roam the grassland enclosures with some of the largest kangaroos in Australia or watch a Bilby emerge from its burrow. Just 20 minutes drive from Adelaide, you can touch and feed wildlife in this open range wildlife sanctuary.

Kangaroo Island is the place to go and to see amazing native wildlife in the wild - sea-lions, fur seals, kangaroos and wallabies, Heath goannas, echidnas, koalas...  It is a pristine wilderness - and it's just a short ferry ride from the mainland.
