The Patrick Whelan Investments Prize for Level II Finance
In March 1998 the Managing Director of Patrick Whelan Investments Limited, Mr
Richard Levy, discussed his interest in funding a Patrick Whelan Prize for first
year Finance students with the Head of the School of Economics, Prof Richard Pomfret.
After discussions between Mrs Elizabeth Geddes, School Manager, and Mr Richard
Levy, it was decided that the prize would be awarded to the Bachelor of Finance
student with the highest overall results in the Level II compulsory subjects;
the following rules are hereby made:
- The prize shall be known as 'The Patrick Whelan Investments Prize for Level
II Finance'.
- The annual value of the prize shall be $500.
- The prize shall be awarded by the School of Economics to the Bachelor of Finance
student obtaining the best combined result in the Level II compulsory subjects
provided that, in the opinion of the examiners, the candidate is of sufficient
merit. Where two candidates are of equal merit, the prize shall be shared equally.
- The terms of the prize may be varied at any time, by agreement between Patrick
Whelan Investments and the University.
- Patrick Whelan Investments Ltd will award the prize for five years (1999,
2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003) and review the scheme during 2003.
