BT Funds Management Prize for Finance I

In September 1996 Robert Ferguson of Bankers Trust Australia Ltd approached Professor Mary O'Kane, then Acting Vice-Chancellor, to establish a prize for high-achieving students in a finance-related subject. After discussions with Mrs Margaret Meyler, Acting Head of the Division of PALACE, it was decided that the prize would be awarded to the student with the highest mark in Finance I.

  1. The prize shall be known as the 'BT Funds Management Prize for the Bachelor of Finance I'.
  2. The annual value of the prize shall be $1000.
  3. The prize shall be awarded to the student receiving the best result in Finance I, providing the Bachelor of Finance Board of Studies and Bankers Trust Australia Ltd consider the candidate to be of sufficient merit. Where two or more candidates are of equal merit the prize shall be shared equally.
  4. The terms of the prize may be varied at any time by agreement of Bankers Trust Australia Ltd and the University of Adelaide.
  5. Bankers Trust Australia Ltd will award the prize for three years (1997, 1998 and 1999) and review the scheme during 1999. It may be noted that: the prize will be awarded in 2001.
