Honours Study Pathway Information SessionThe School of Economics Honours Information Session will be held on Monday 31st August at 1pm in the Majoribanks Building, Room 126. The Majoribanks is on the corner of Pulteney Street and North Tce. Come and hear from staff and a current Honours student about the program.

1st, 2nd and 3rd year students welcome!!! 17 August 2009 HonoursStudents who complete an Honours Degree in Economics are much better placed in the labour market by comparison with students in possession of an ordinary Bachelor degree. In particular, employers such as the Federal or State Treasury, or Reserve Bank of Australia usually recruit Honours graduates and have cadetships for students contemplating Honours. Similarly, employment prospects in the private sector are also enhanced, as international consulting firms usually require an Honours degree. For those contemplating further postgraduate study an Honours degree is a necessary first step. Students with a first class Honours degree from Adelaide have performed well in Ph.D. programs in Australia, the United States and the U.K. Economics Students completing the core courses to a high standard and meet the requiements for their undergraduate degree are invited by the School of Economics to apply to understake a fourth, or Honours year. For pre 2008 Students:
Level I Principles of Microeconomics Principles of Macroeconomics Business Data Analysis First Semester Higher Level Maths* Level II Consumers Firms and Markets II Macroeconomic Theory and Policy II Economic and Financial Data Analysis II Mathematical Economics II* Level III Economic Theory III Econometrics III Level III Economics course (usually International Economic History III) A minimum credit for each of the above Level II and III courses is necessary. * Honours students are required to have a strong mathematics background and mathematical studies in first year or Mathematical Economics II and Business & Economic Statistical Theory II is recommended.
