Students who complete an Honours Degree in Economics are much better placed in the labour market by comparison with students in possession of an ordinary Bachelor’s degree. In particular, employers such as the Federal or State Treasury, or Reserve Bank of Australia usually recruit Honours graduates and have cadetships for students contemplating Honours. Similarly, employment prospects in the private sector are also enhanced, as international consulting firms usually require an Honours degree.
