Adelaide Econometrics Study Group MEETING 4/08

1. INTRODUCTION

After the convener briefly talking about the purposes of a new econometrics study group in Adelaide, the attendees introduced themselves.

2.ESTABLISHMENT OF ADELAIDE ECONOMETRICS STUDY GROUP (AESG)

The convener suggested compiling a list of local members, creating a website for AESG, and compiling an email list of interested people in Australia and New Zealand

R. Zurbrugg and Z. Lu discussed possibilities of getting funds for the AESG from the private sector, for example, Q group in Adelaide.

Joint research collaborations and grant applications can be discussed in the AESG.

3. AUSTRALASIAN MEETING OF THE ECONOMETRIC SOCIETY

A proposal to jointly host 2011 Australasian Meeting of the Econometric Society by Adelaide and UniSA will be submitted in July in the Wellington Meeting. The convener might seek help from the AESG members and people in other academic areas in Australia.

4. MEETING OF THE AESG

The convener proposed the inaugural meeting of the AESG in early December when Yacine Aït-Sahalia from Princeton University visits Adelaide. We may make this as an annual event as we have regular overseas visitors in December every year.

Monthly meeting to host a local and/or national/international speaker was suggested.
